FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Dear Parents,

Greetings for the New Academic Year 2021-2022.

Online School has resumed for this academic year. We have also completed the class-wise Orientation. Personally, I was happy to see that most of you had attended the class-wise orientation. You acquired clarification with some of your queries and doubts. Certainly, this is not the end of our interaction. Parents, you are most welcome to keep in touch with the school authorities through your emails.

Campion School is run by the Bombay Campion High School Society established in 1943. The Bombay Campion High School Society is run by the Jesuits. The Society of Jesus (Jesuits), a Christian Religious Order founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540, has been active in the sphere of education throughout the world, ever since its foundation.

This year is a special year for all the institutions run by the Jesuits. The Congregation has declared the year, an “Ignatian Year” to celebrate the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits. The Ignatian Year was inaugurated on May 20th, the 500th anniversary of when Ignatius the soldier was injured by a cannon ball in the Battle of Pamplona. The Year will conclude on July 31, 2022, the feast day of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The peak of the celebration will fall on March 12, 2022, the 400th anniversary of the canonization of St. Ignatius and St. Francis Xavier. While the Ignatian Year honours the past, we are invited to be future-focused and attend to the Universal Apostolic Preferences:

  1. To show the way to God through Spiritual Exercises and discernment
  2. To walk with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice
  3. To accompany young people in the creation of a hope-filled future
  4. To collaborate in the care of our Common Home.

Many of our cherished parents have appreciated the tremendous efforts made during the last Academic Year, and strongly support our endeavours. For us a good education is important and it goes beyond the classroom.

I am particularly touched by the magnanimous gestures of our parents. Some of you, despite trying circumstances, went out of your way to clear all dues.

You will be happy to know that we have not followed the usual norm of increasing the fees this Academic Year too, but instead we have back-tracked to the fee structure of 2019-2020. Considering the present pandemic time, you may pay monthly, quarterly, half yearly or full year’s fees at a time. The school fee App has already been activated for the same.

Campion School has been one of the few schools that have permitted all its students to attend online classes, and even appear for their examinations despite some of the students not paying their dues.

I cannot conclude unless I mention the hard work discharged by our teachers during the Coronavirus pandemic. Most of you probably had to work from home. Our teachers too worked from home. They have been working two times as hard to ensure nothing is lacking. Our teachers can walk into class and accomplish a great lesson, every time & all the time.

Having come this far, I must reiterate that these challenging times have brought out the best in us and helped us to become more resilient and adaptable.

Let us look forward to 2021-2022 with renewed hope, and endless trust in God that we shall overcome!

May God bless the Campion Family!

Warm Regards,

Fr. (Dr.) Francis Swamy S.J. Principal
